Inside your AS you have to add the jar to the CLASSPATH yourself (most of the times by putting it in one of the dedicated dir (like server/lib or smth)). And I'm not sure, Tomcat is suitable for that. This was achieved by adding the MySQL-Connector library during design time. weblink
