I'll put this over to patches section asap. I assumed that this would lead to easier installation on Ubuntu and in the future, hopefully, ROOT in the Ubuntu repositories. dpkg-deb just appends a new line to debian/files if it already exists, so it's essential to make sure it gets removed in the beginning of binary build in debian/rules. One problem is that due to a dh_python bug in Ubuntu, the libroot-python-dev package (required for PyROOT) is broken for Gutsy (and probably Feisty too), since it depends on python < http://haywirerobotics.com/cannot-read/cs-read-prompt-eof-no-such-file-or-directory.html
