  7. One last comment--it's actually, IMNSHO, poor design on the part of Ubuntu and Fedora to automatically install the printer so that it will print and not scan.

What does fortran, for example, have to do with this driver? If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). I don't have the patience to do that every couple of months. yes checking for pow in -lm...

My 10.10 is updated daily. gcc3 checking for gcc... I am trying to get an all-in-one printer/scanner to work, Epson Artisan 730.

Perhaps I can get one really cheap because nobody wants them any more.
