It looks like "cannot compute sizeof (char)" ​could result from a bad or missing libiconv, so I think we're on the right track with trying to fix your iconv/gettext problem. Configure is trying to use the compiler to determine a simple system parameter (sizeof(int)), but the compiler flags added by the preceding glib detection are causing a failure.
