I have tried it on more than one computer and it does not work. Please note that this will erase all contents of the drive. These hard drives do some come with a driver of thier own as a design descision, which was fine and dandy before Windows 7 popped up, as all PCs ran a Since power from USB ports can vary, the use of a Power Booster cable may be needed.

Fixed it by switching to another (thicker) USB cable I had AND plugging it directly into the back of the computer. It's a little more expensive to get this kind of cable but it may also be the problem you are having.
